We finished out our final group piano class this week with a fun game of Music Spelling Bee!

Each of the students received a magnetic dry erase board (I really like these from Really Good Stuff and have used them for years!) with magnets and a transparency sheet with a music staff printed on it (you can download the set of free music staff designs here and print the appropriate size one on transparency sheets to play this game).

I have a collection of words that can be formed using only the letters of the music alphabet in my printed copy of the 5 for Fun! piano lesson games booklet, so I just selected random words from that list and had students see how quickly they could “spell” the words by placing notes correctly on the staff. They could use treble or bass clef as long as the word read properly from left to right!
